Darryl was born into a family of singers. At a very young age his family moved to Kansas City and soon began singing as the Bulson Trio with his mother and brother. He readily admits that he is very blessed to have been raised in a Christian home with parents that exemplified unconditional, Christ-like love.

Darryl was born with fragile kidneys that resulted in a total of 42 kidney surgeries including 2 kidney transplants. His first kidney transplant was when he was 16. "I am very aware that 'to whom much is given, much is required' and I know that God has given me a testimony and a passion to share that testimony of God's love and healing through song."

Darryl was saved at 15 at Harmony Hill Youth Camp in Fulton, MO. This decision that Darry made stayed in the forefront of his mind, even though he admits that he has made a lot of mistakes along the way and have hurt a lot of people with selfish decisions. "But I knew Jesus loved me and had His hand on me. I didn't know what God had planned for my life; I just knew I wanted to sing."

In 1991 Darryl sang with his first quartet, Kansas City's The Watchmen. In 1996 he moved to Des Moines, IA to sing with Journey Bound Quartet. He then moved to Memphis, TN in 1999 to sing with Southern Heritage Quartet. Southern Heritage Quartet released several songs nationally and was signed with Zion Music Group. "I just knew that this was it. This was the group that I would be with when I retired. But God had other plans."

In February 2001 Darryl was told that his transplanted kidney was beginning to fail. "I was devastated. I remember I wanted to keep on singing. I had little or no breath support and was fatigued all the time but I did not want to stop. I remember we were scheduled to sing in Denver, CO at the Rocky Mountain Quartet Convention and I was so sick and with the high altitude I could hardly walk, let alone sing a concert." When they arrived in Denver late that afternoon he was still in a lot of pain. But a group of people started praying and Darryl went on to the service. As they introduced the quartet, he was still hurting. But when he took the very first step to walk on stage, he didn't feel any pain. Although he was very short of breath, he felt no pain. "When we began singing the wave of the Holy Spirit started on one side and moved across that auditorium. I think the Lord blessed me because He saw how determined I was to minister and put His Word before the people."

At the end of 2001, Darryl had to leave Southern Heritage and move back to IA to be treated for his kidney failure. In 2005 he moved back to Kansas City and shortly thereafter he was given his second kidney transplant. Darryl began singing with The Messengers of Faith in Kansas City. He sang with this group until 2006 and then left and rejoined them in 2008 until the group disbanded in 2011.

When Darryl was offered the position of lead vocalist with 4 His Love, he and his wife prayed about the decision and, through God's leading and very evident circumstances, it was proven to them that this was where Darryl needed to be. "In getting to know these men, I can just tell that not only our vocals but our personalities just blend. It is so good to 'Make a JOYFUL noise unto the Lord.' We really do get along so well and Cindy and I are very excited to see what God has in store for this ministry."

QUESTIONS ASKED OF DARRYL:

What is your greatest privilege and accomplishment in music thus far?
Being able to share my ministry with so many wonderful people over the years and seeing the way God can take various testimonies and talents and mold them to become a tool that He can use to reach the lost and hurting.

What has been your favorite vacation place/trip?
My favorite spot would have to be Orlando, FL. I loved it and I would love to take my girls there. They would have a blast!

What is your favorite thing to do with your family?
My family is blessed because we really have a great time together. We love to laugh and I love making them laugh. We have even been known to dress up as our favorite heroes and invade a Comic Convention. I love being a daddy.
